Patterns and Eros is a solo presentation by Marcelot that brings together his painting and photography to explore the dialogue between tattooed skin and porcelain adorned with intricate motifs. Delicate in their materiality yet lasting as carriers of meaning, both surfaces hold and transmit cultural signs. Skin changes—healing, aging, and renewing—while porcelain preserves its designs with stillness and precision. Together, they become repositories of stories, motifs, and identity, revealing a tension between the vulnerability of the body and the idealized perfection of ceramic.

Marcelot (b. 1965, Swiss Brazilian) is the pseudonym of Marcelo Galvão, born in Potim, Guaratinguetá, Brazil.  After studying art education in Pindamonhangaba, his career took him to Europe in 1990, where he continued his training in fine arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, followed by postgraduate studies in art therapy at the same institution. An invitation to work in Switzerland led to a position at the psychiatric clinic in Münsterlingen, Thurgau, where Marcelot worked as an art therapist for ten years while completing training in group analysis according to Foulkes in Zurich. Since 2012, his focus has been entirely on artistic practice. Swiss citizenship was granted in 2015, complementing his Brazilian nationality.

Marcelot has participated in artistic residencies at FAAP in São Paulo, the SWATCH Art Peace Hotel in Shanghai, and programs in Berlin, Athens, London, and Assisi. His work has been exhibited in Germany, Switzerland, Brazil, Spain, and Italy. At the invitation of SWATCH, Marcelot took part in the 59th Venice Biennale, where his piece Lion of Venice entered the Biennale’s collection and is now permanently installed at the entrance to the Biennale Library.
