Anggrek Agency is an art and cultural agency dedicated to promoting queer, Asian, and female artists, as well as supporting emerging voices in design and photography. Founded by Steven Anggrek, a graduate of the Executive Master in Art Market Studies program at the University of Zurich, the agency began its curatorial journey in January 2024 with an exhibition of Polaroid Collages by Stuart Sandford (British, b. 1978, lives and works in Mexico City, Los Angeles, and London), followed by watercolor works on paper by Yen Melia Andreas (Indonesian, b. 1996, lives and works in Jakarta). Anggrek Agency now proudly collaborates with a diverse range of artists, including a talented duo Audrey Julien (French, b. 1990) & Arno Mathies (Swiss, b. 1986), who bring unique perspectives through their minimalist yet expressive works.
Steven Anggrek, born on Saint Stephen’s Day into a Chinese Indonesian family originally named Ang, adopted the surname Anggrek to better integrate with Indonesian culture. Anggrek means orchid, inspiring the emblem—a simple vector drawing of an orchid.
Steven is also the co-founder and curator of Bahay Contemporary and works as a medium format film photographer.
