GIRLS is a group exhibition featuring works by emerging and established artists created in Asia, Europe, and the United States. The artists—mainly women—reclaim the power of their bodies through their works, in some cases even using bodily fluids as part of their creative process, celebrating feminine energy and agency.
Initially, the exhibition was conceived as a presentation of 17 female artists. During the planning process, however, one artist proposed including a male sculptor whose practice resonated strongly with the exhibition’s spirit. This moment opened the conversation — and the exhibition — further.
Girls is not an exhibition about biological gender, but about the cultural, symbolic, and emotional terrain of girlhood. In this context, “girl” functions as a metaphor: a space of softness, rebellion, vulnerability, and self‑invention.
The inclusion of three male artists does not contradict the theme; rather, it expands it. It reveals that girlhood is not a fixed identity, but a position one can perform, question, and inhabit. By opening the term to multiple bodies and perspectives, the exhibition frames feminine energy as a shared cultural force rather than a category reserved for women alone.
